Things for Sale

Some of my things may still be with my payhip store, but I will be moving things over to the Artisan's Co-op, an Etsy alternative that is owned, like other co-op businesses, by people who have invested in it. Being a part of a group will help me out. Be sure to check the site for all kinds of hand made gifts. It's just getting started, so be sure to check back too!  I will be adjusting my price structure so I can offer free shipping on ready-to-purchase items as well.  Items that say "Purchase" will be listed at the Co-op, "Add to Cart" are still at the Payhip store.  If something doesn't work right, please let me know, there may be growing pains along the way!

Also, I am going to offer something new. Most of my knitting needs to be blocked more than just laying it flat in the shape it's supposed to be. However my illness makes the kind needed painful, so it takes a long time for me to get something blocked. So, I am going to offer unblocked items. These will be at a lower price until the item gets blocked, new and better photos taken, and reposted. The price of some items may go up significantly, but all will be more expensive. You can get my work at a low price and do the blocking yourself - something you will need to do anyway if you wash the lace! This will let me get more items up as well.

If the item does not say it is unblocked, it has been blocked. If you have a question though, please ask!

There are some important things that need to be answered for me to give you an estimate on the items you want.

First, of course, is what do you want!

Next most important question is how are you willing/able to care for it?
Can you hand wash and lay flat to dry, or do you need to be able to just toss it in the washer? Do you have a washer that can do delicate/hand wash cycle? Fine lace will need to be stretched flat while damp and pinned if washed. This can usually be done on a bed, but it will be part of it's care.

What fiber do you want it in?
This works in combination with how you're able to care for something. While some fibers and fabrics are just fine in a machine washer, others are not. So I always take these two questions together. Is the fiber important? Environmental impact? The feel?

What is the item for?
While this may seem obvious, a decorative scarf or hat may work for a night in or a summer day, but not for winter, or blustery weather. Boot socks are often different from socks worn with regular shoes. Knowing how you envision using the item will help me direct you.

What is your budget?
Hand work takes time and skill, and costs more than bulk made items from regular stores. Some yarns and fibers are more expensive than others. Knowing your budget will help me see if I can work within your budget, make some suggestions for adjustments so it will fit, or if I can't.

What is your time frame?
As mentioned, hand work takes time. If you want a pair of socks in a week, that's not going to happen. If I need to find and order yarn, that takes time, shipping takes time, and I also need to take care of my health.

Color, pattern, details?
Color, size, how you want it to look are important as well.

Typically I will work up an estimate - both cost and time, possibly with some different options. If you hire me for your project, I also typically charge half up front, then the rest when I'm finished.

So contact me, answering the above questions, and let's make you something beautiful!
